Thistle Garden Ochre/Olive

Embleton Bay Fabrics FabricSAF0242-02

Thistle Garden Ochre/Olive is a light, airy botanical fabric with hand-painted thistles, seedheads and stems scattered over a pale ground. The ochre flower heads and soft olive foliage give the design a sun-warmed, meadow-like feel.

About this fabric

This colourway is printed with loose, painterly thistles and slender stems in ochre, olive, faded sage and hints of dusty blue, all sitting on a fresh light ground. The 140 cm usable width and 61 cm vertical repeat make the repeat easy to plan across full curtains or feature panels. At 252 gsm, it has enough substance for a considered drape while still reading soft and breathable in the hand. The 38 threads per cm specification supports the fine detail visible in the petals, seedheads and delicate leaf outlines. Overall, the palette feels gently rustic rather than bright, with the warm yellow tones balanced by muted grey-green stems.

How to use it

Use it for relaxed curtains, Roman blinds or cushion covers where the ochre and olive notes can bring warmth without heaviness. It works especially well with chalky walls, aged oak and other natural textures.

Pair with warm neutrals and muted timber to let the painterly botanicals stand out.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
