About this colour

At #36353B, Carbon reads as a near-black charcoal with just enough blue-grey in it to stop it feeling flat. In a north-facing room it can look cooler and more shadowed, holding its depth and making the space feel quieter. In south-facing light it lifts a little, revealing its grey side and looking more balanced against pale walls or timber. On walls or woodwork, it sits well beside oatmeal, stone, inky blue, smoked oak and aged brass, giving those finishes a clean, defined outline.

How to use it

Carbon suits a study, hallway or built-in joinery where you want a grounded dark tone without true black. It works well with pale linen upholstery, walnut or oak woodwork, and muted greens, blues or parchment shades nearby.

A deep charcoal like Carbon can make a wall feel calm, defined and slightly cooler.
