About this colour

This shade reads as a soft, greyed purple with enough depth to hold its own on walls without becoming heavy. The #7B7380 value gives it a cool cast, so it absorbs more light than it reflects and brings a quiet, cocooning feel to a room. In north-facing light it can look a touch bluer and more restrained, while in south-facing light the mauve in it becomes clearer and a little warmer. It sits well beside chalky whites, dark walnut, smoked oak and upholstery in oatmeal, slate, ink blue or soft fern tones. The Active Emulsion and Waterbased Eggshell finishes suit both walls and woodwork where a calm, tailored look is wanted.

How to use it

Use Eggplant in a sitting room, study or bedroom where you want depth without blackness. It pairs particularly well with painted joinery, walnut furniture and curtains in natural linen, deep green or softened navy.
