Calais Lead

Calais Fabric

Calais Lead is a restrained taupe with a gentle mushroom cast and a dry, textural look in the weave. The colour reads cool-neutral rather than brown, with fine tonal variation that keeps the surface from feeling flat.

About this fabric

Woven in 52% Recycled Polyester and 48% Polyester, Calais Lead is specified as a 300 cm-wide curtaining fabric with a plain pattern repeat and no martindale rating noted. In this colourway, the small-scale weave creates a softly mottled surface that sits between grey and taupe, with a grounded lead tone and lighter yarn flecks catching the light. The finish feels contemporary and understated, making it a practical choice where a calm backdrop is needed. Its wide width is well suited to long curtain drops and generous window treatments.

How to use it

Use Calais Lead for floor-length curtains or relaxed blinds where you want a smart neutral with more depth than a flat grey. It pairs especially well with pale plaster, smoked oak and black accents, letting the subtle texture do the work.

A quietly tailored neutral that layers easily with timber, linen and deeper greys.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
