About this fabric

The design is formed from repeated ornate damask medallions, with curling foliage and floral details picked out in muted old gold against near-black carbon. Its 712 gsm weight and 76 threads per cm indicate a substantial, densely made fabric suited to upholstery. The pattern has a 74 cm vertical repeat and 36 cm horizontal repeat, creating a clearly structured layout across the 143 cm usable width. Light catches the raised-looking gold pattern more warmly than the charcoal ground, bringing definition to the intricate motifs.

How to use it

Use it on a statement armchair, ottoman or occasional sofa in a room with charcoal, aged timber and warm brass accents. The carbon ground keeps the ornate old-gold pattern grounded rather than bright, making it especially effective in a dramatic, low-lit scheme.

Use this weighty carbon-and-old-gold damask on statement upholstery where its ornate pattern can be appreciated.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Tespi Carbon/Old Gold without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
