Marseilles Slate

Monterey Collection FabricMARSEILLES

Marseilles Slate shows a fine vertical stripe in soft slate grey over a pale, chalky ground. The overall effect is restrained and crisp, with just enough contrast to give the design definition.

About this fabric

Woven in 50% polyester and 50% cotton, Marseilles Slate is a versatile contract fabric suitable for upholstery, drapes and cushions. The stripe is narrow and orderly, with a 7.5cm horizontal repeat that reads as a tailored pinstripe rather than a bold statement. Its cool slate lines sit lightly against the pale background, giving the cloth a clean, understated look that feels smart and composed. With a 30,000 rub test and a substantial 394gsm weight, it has the practical body expected of a hardworking interior textile.

How to use it

Use Marseilles Slate to bring quiet structure to a neutral scheme, especially on armchairs, banquettes or interlined curtains. Its cool grey palette pairs well with white, oak and deeper charcoal accents for a calm, polished room.

A cool neutral stripe that works neatly on tailored seating or crisp window treatments.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Marseilles Slate without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
