About this fabric

This Clarke & Clarke fabric weighs 374 gsm, giving Congo Noir a substantial handle well suited to upholstery. The foliage is distributed in a 68.5 cm vertical and 68.5 cm horizontal repeat, with pale leaves and muted ochre accents standing out against charcoal and blackened green shadows. Fine tonal variation across the leaves keeps the dense pattern dimensional rather than flat, while the warmer ochre notes add restrained contrast to the cool dark ground. The standard length is 25 m and the usable width is 137 cm.

How to use it

Use Congo Noir on a statement armchair, sofa or upholstered headboard where its charcoal ground can anchor a room. Pair it with warm ivory, aged brass and olive accents to draw out the lighter leaves and subtle ochre highlights.

Use this deep charcoal botanical for statement upholstery, balancing its olive, ivory and ochre foliage with plain textured fabrics.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
