Acanthus Weave Slate

William Morris Weaves FabricCCF0755-05

Acanthus Weave Slate presents a cool, pale slate-grey ground threaded with softly contrasting ivory acanthus leaves and curling stems. The closely woven surface gives the all-over botanical pattern a quiet, tonal depth rather than a high-contrast effect.

About this fabric

The woven design combines scrolling foliage, pointed leaves and rounded acanthus forms in pale ivory against the subdued slate-grey ground visible here. At 305 gsm, it has the substance of a versatile mid-weight textile, suitable for upholstery and drapery. The fabric has a usable width of 138 cm and a vertical pattern repeat of 61 cm, with a 46 cm horizontal repeat for planning pattern placement. Its muted cool colouring and finely detailed motif read as composed and traditional without becoming visually heavy.

How to use it

Pair the cool slate-grey ground with chalky whites, soft grey upholstery and aged silver accents, using the ivory foliage to connect with lighter architectural details. The 61 cm vertical repeat is well suited to considered placement on curtains, cushions or accent chairs.

Use this cool slate-and-ivory colourway to bring softly patterned definition to upholstery, curtains or tailored cushions.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Acanthus Weave Slate without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
