Malabar Blue

Malabar Fabric03051-01

Malabar Blue shows a softly speckled, small-scale pattern in muted slate blue across a pale stone ground. The overall effect is restrained and textural, with the blue sitting quietly rather than reading as bright or sharp.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric is composed of 90% cotton and 10% polyester, with a width of approximately 132cm and a repeat of V 15cm / H 11cm. In this colourway, the pattern reads as a fine scattering of blue-grey marks on a warm neutral base, giving the cloth a subtle, weathered depth. The small repeat keeps the surface lively without becoming busy, and the tonal contrast is gentle enough to feel easy to live with. With no performance features noted, it suits decorative schemes where the texture and colour do the work.

How to use it

Use Malabar Blue on a pair of tailored curtains, a loose cover, or a statement chair where the muted blue can add interest without dominating. It works especially well with pale oak, putty paintwork and linen upholstery.

Pairs well with natural timber and crisp white for a calm, tailored scheme.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Malabar Blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
