About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric is composed of 90% cotton and 10% polyester, with a width of approximately 132cm and a repeat of about 15cm vertically by 11cm horizontally. The small-scale pattern reads as a dense scatter of red marks, creating a lively surface with an earthy, slightly weathered character. In this colourway the red sits closer to brick and claret than bright crimson, so it feels warm and settled rather than sharp. Its cotton-rich composition and mid-scale repeat make it a versatile textile for schemes that want pattern without heaviness.

How to use it

Use Malabar Red to add depth to tailored upholstery, cushions or a smart headboard, especially where the warm red can contrast with limestone, oak or painted off-white. It also works well in layered country-house schemes that need a grounded accent with a little movement.

A warm red small-scale pattern that brings richness without overwhelming a room.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
