Stratford Brown

Roscoe FabricF3831-15

Stratford Brown is a quietly textured plain with a warm taupe-brown ground and a soft, linen-like surface. The close weave gives it a calm, even look with just enough depth to avoid feeling flat.

About this fabric

This Roscoe fabric from Colefax and Fowler is composed of 59% viscose, 16% polyester, 15% cotton and 10% linen, with a width of approximately 140cm and a vertical and horizontal repeat of 0cm. In this colourway, the weave reads as a muted brown with taupe undertones, lifted by small flecks of lighter yarn that soften the overall tone. The surface has a dry, gently nubby character rather than a glossy finish, which helps the shade feel grounded and tailored. With no visible pattern repeat, it suits interiors that want texture first and colour second.

How to use it

Use Stratford Brown to bring warmth to contemporary upholstery, especially on clean-lined armchairs or banquettes where the subtle weave can be appreciated. It also works well for curtains in rooms with stone, oak or painted neutrals, where the brown-taupe tone adds depth without overpowering the scheme.

A versatile earthy neutral that works neatly across upholstery and curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
