Shelley Black

Shelley FabricJ0115-22

Shelley Black is a deep charcoal-black fabric with a dry, pebble-like texture and a softly mottled surface. The close weave gives the colourway a low-sheen, tailored look with subtle grey highlights catching the light.

About this fabric

This colourway has a dark charcoal ground broken up by fine lighter flecks, so the surface reads as textured rather than flat black. The fabric is 138cm wide approximately and made from 64% Polyester, 32% Viscose and 4% Cotton, giving it a practical cloth with a refined hand. The tiny, irregular weave creates a tweed-like effect that suits the solid, compact look visible in the swatch. With a repeat of V 0cm / H 0cm approx, it presents as a non-directional plain texture rather than a patterned design.

How to use it

Use Shelley Black on an armchair, banquette or ottoman where the charcoal tone can anchor lighter upholstery and timber finishes. It also works well in a monochrome room, especially alongside pale stone, soft grey or brushed metal.

Use to add depth and tactility to tailored seating or a pared-back scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
