Tokyo Marine

Tokyo FabricL9440-16

Tokyo Marine is a deep, steady blue with a subtly variegated woven surface that softens the overall look. The colour reads as marine navy rather than bright blue, with a cool, tailored finish.

About this fabric

This plain fabric has a fine woven texture with the faint horizontal and vertical slub visible across the surface, giving the dark blue a quiet movement rather than a flat, solid appearance. It is composed of 46% Cotton, 29% Viscose, 14% Linen and 11% Polyester, with an approximate width of 147cm and no repeat, so it is well suited to clean-cut upholstery and coordinated soft furnishings. The marine tone sits between navy and ink, appearing slightly softened by the linen content and taking on a subdued sheen in the light. Care code Q 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are supplied for this exact fabric.

How to use it

Use Tokyo Marine to ground a room with crisp white, pale oak or brushed brass, where the dark blue can act as a smart, anchoring colour. It is especially effective on tailored seating, simple curtains or a headboard where the plain weave and cool depth can read clearly.

A refined dark blue that works well across upholstery and drapery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
