About this fabric

The dense-looking velvet face reads as a saturated ink blue, with cooler blue highlights appearing where the pile changes direction across the folds. Its plain surface has no visible motif, and the supplied specification confirms a 0 cm vertical and horizontal pattern repeat. At 540 gsm and 141 cm usable width, it has the substantial presence expected of a velvet suited to upholstery. The shaded folds make this colourway particularly effective for bringing depth and a quietly luxe finish to upholstered forms.

How to use it

Pair the cool ink tone with chalky neutrals, smoky greys or dark timber for a composed, enveloping scheme. On a sofa, headboard or occasional chair, the pile's changing blue sheen will add dimension without introducing a pattern.

Use this deep ink-blue velvet on statement seating, where its plush pile and shifting blue highlights add depth to the room.

Pairs well with

Performance Velvets Ink is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
