Imperial grey

Imperial Grey reads like layered brush marks on a pale grey ground, with inky charcoal strokes and softened teal accents scattered across the surface. The design feels airy and artistic, yet the contrast gives it enough presence to stand out in a room.

About this fabric

Woven in 82% viscose and 18% linen, this fabric has a smooth, lightly textured handle that suits either upholstery or drapery use. The 138cm width gives useful coverage, while the non-repeating, painterly look is punctuated by broad graphite marks, washed-out sage and teal touches, and misty pale grey areas between them. The horizontal 44cm and vertical 29cm repeat keep the motif generously scaled without feeling rigid, and the overall effect is cooler than warm, with a fresh, smoky depth. Spot clean only, and do not iron.

How to use it

Use this colourway where you want a restrained statement: it works especially well with pale oak, matte black accents, and soft white walls. The cool grey base keeps the teal brushwork feeling crisp rather than heavy.

A cool, painterly grey that brings a calm, contemporary edge to curtains or tailored upholstery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Imperial grey without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
