About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Orwell Weaves collection is supplied as a 140 cm-wide textile with a 25 m standard roll length, 560 gsm weight and 71 threads/cm, with no pattern repeat in either direction. Visually, the weave sits on a dark charcoal ground with irregular cream and biscuit flecks breaking across the surface, giving the cloth a dry, nubby texture rather than a flat finish. The contrast is muted rather than stark, so the lighter yarns soften the overall depth and keep the colourway from feeling too heavy. Its compact woven structure and substantial weight make it especially well suited to upholstered pieces that need a crisp, durable appearance.

How to use it

Use Merrington Charcoal on a sofa, armchair or dining chair to add structure without introducing a bold pattern. It pairs well with pale timber, aged brass and stone-coloured linens, where the charcoal ground can anchor a calm, modern scheme.
