Mustak Cochineal
Decorative Velvets II VelvetZOF0197-04
Mustak Cochineal presents a deep, saturated cochineal-red velvet scattered with closely spaced blue-teal horizontal dashes. Its dense surface gives the colour a softly shaded depth, while the small motif remains crisp across the swatch.

About this fabric
Catalogued as velvet, this substantial 680gsm cloth has a 142cm useable width and a dense construction of 102 threads per centimetre. The blue-teal dashes form a compact geometric pattern, repeating every 9cm vertically and 7cm horizontally. Against the dark red ground, the cooler marks create a restrained contrast rather than a bright, high-colour effect. The pile catches the light unevenly across the surface, bringing out subtle shifts between vivid cochineal and deeper wine-red shadow.
How to use it
Use Mustak Cochineal to give a reading chair, ottoman or sofa a warm, dramatic anchor. Balance its saturated red with aged timber, smoked metal and the swatch’s blue-teal detailing in small decorative accents.
Use this dense red velvet on occasional chairs, dining seats or a richly coloured sofa, with teal accents echoed in cushions or artwork.

Pairs well with
A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Mustak Cochineal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
