Tudor Damask Cochineal has a dense field of small scalloped, fan-like motifs woven in a deep, muted cochineal red. The close pattern gives the swatch a richly textured, almost tapestry-like surface, with darker definition between the repeated arches.

About this fabric

The compact damask has a 9cm vertical repeat and 6cm horizontal repeat, creating an even all-over rhythm rather than a large statement motif. Its 462gsm weight and 58 threads per cm give the cloth a substantial, closely constructed handle suited to upholstery. The cochineal tone sits between warm brick red and dusky berry, while the tonal motif catches the light subtly instead of appearing high-contrast. Supplied in a 134cm usable width and 35m standard length, it offers practical coverage for upholstered pieces.

How to use it

Use the warm, dark cochineal ground on a statement armchair, dining seat or headboard, pairing it with aged timber, antique brass and quiet taupe or tobacco textiles. Its small-scale damask can add pattern without overwhelming a room already layered with rich materials.
