Marketa Blue Umber

Indienne Fabrics FabricZOF0089-01

Marketa Blue Umber presents a repeating field of stylised thistle-like blooms in ink blue, chalk white and dusky umber. Its softly mottled grey-beige ground gives the botanical layout a weathered, painterly depth.

About this fabric

The design arranges alternating upright flower heads and slender stems in a balanced repeat, with dark blue-umber centres contrasting against pale, brush-like petals. A lightly textured-looking ground shifts between cool grey, beige and muted umber, keeping the colourway subdued rather than bright. The fabric has a 136 cm usable width, a 34 cm vertical repeat and a 33.5 cm horizontal repeat, so the motif has a clearly noticeable but manageable scale. At 285 gsm with 28 threads per cm, it has the substance for both upholstery and drapery applications.

How to use it

Pair the blue-grey and umber tones with chalky neutrals, aged timber and soft stone shades for a calm, layered scheme. The repeated stems would work especially well on a feature chair, roman blind or relaxed pair of curtains where the 34 cm vertical repeat can be appreciated.

Use this cool, weathered colourway to bring botanical pattern and quiet contrast to upholstery, curtains or cushions.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Marketa Blue Umber without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
