About this colour

This shade has a muted blue base with enough grey in it to stop it feeling fresh or coastal, so it comes across as measured and elegant on the wall. In north-facing light, Shetland will lean cooler and slightly steelier, with the grey note becoming more visible. In south-facing rooms it softens and brightens a little, keeping its blue character without becoming sugary or bright. It pairs well with chalky whites, pale oak, smoked woods and deep navy, and it gives a clean backdrop to patterned upholstery in indigo, charcoal or softened green.

How to use it

Use Shetland in a living room, study or bedroom where you want a quiet colour that still has presence. It works especially well beside walnut or oak woodwork and with upholstery in linen, navy velvet or muted botanical patterns.
