About this colour

At #726E62, Olivine reads as a deep muted sage-olive with a clear grey base and a gentle warmth. It absorbs more light than it reflects, so it will feel calm and enclosed on a wall without going muddy. In north-facing rooms it can turn cooler and a little more stone-like, with the green note subdued by the grey. In south-facing light the warmer undertone comes forward, making it look earthier and more olive beside natural wood, tan leather and aged brass. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it works well on walls or joinery where you want the colour to sit quietly beside patterned curtains or upholstered seating.

How to use it

Olivine suits a sitting room, study or hall where you want a settled backdrop for oak, walnut or painted woodwork in off-white. It pairs well with linen, velvet and leather in cream, rust, tobacco and deeper green tones.
