About this colour

This shade reads as a mellow beige-gold with a clear warm undertone, and the hex value shows a colour that leans earthy rather than bright. On a wall, it reflects light kindly but not sharply, so it can lift a room while still feeling grounded. In a north-facing room it will look deeper and more muted, with the warmth taking on a slightly hushed, honeyed cast. In south-facing light it feels brighter and more golden, especially beside oak, walnut, stone, or richer upholstery colours in russet, moss, or deep blue. Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion, and True Matt will all suit the colour well, depending on whether the wall or woodwork needs a softer or more tailored finish.

How to use it

Straw works well in sitting rooms, dining rooms, and hallways where a warm, easy background is needed. It sits neatly beside natural woodwork, painted joinery, and upholstery in cinnamon, olive, indigo, or cream.

A warm ochre like this will give a wall a calm, inviting glow.

Pairs well with

Straw is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
