About this colour

In this shade, the #9E4F40 value reads as a muted warm red with brown undertones, so it feels richer than clay and softer than a true rust. It takes on light well without looking pale, which helps it keep its depth on a wall. In a north-facing room it can feel more sombre and cocoa-toned, with the red pulled back by cooler light. In south-facing light the warmth comes forward and the colour shows its red-brown body more clearly, especially in Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt. It sits well beside dark oak, walnut, brass details and upholstered pieces in cream, taupe, olive or deep blue.

How to use it
