Smoke

2026 Paint PaintZOP1132-25

Smoke by Zoffany is a muted greige with a gentle warmth and an easy, settled feel. In the 2026 Paint range, it gives walls and woodwork a quiet, lived-in presence without turning brown or grey-heavy.

About this colour

This shade reads as a soft blend of beige and grey, with the beige side keeping it from feeling cold and the grey side stopping it from looking yellow. On a wall, #BAB2A7 sits lightly without reflecting much glare, so it softens strong edges rather than brightening a room sharply. In a north-facing room it will feel cooler and a little more stone-like, while in south-facing light the warmer undertone becomes clearer and the colour looks more welcoming. It works well beside natural oak, walnut, chalky whites and upholstery in muted greens, taupe and tobacco tones. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it suits both walls and joinery where a calm, grounded colour is needed.

How to use it

Use Smoke in sitting rooms, hallways or bedrooms where you want a restrained backdrop that still feels warm. It pairs neatly with painted woodwork in off-white, or with upholstered pieces in linen, mohair or leather tones that lean earthy rather than bright.

Smoke gives a wall a soft greige tone that stays calm and usable in changing light.

Order it with the cloth

A pot comes off the same order as the fabric, so the wall and the chair in front of it are chosen together. The making is ours: cut, sewn and fitted in our own Heybridge workshop, with Simon over every stage.

Pairs well with

Smoke is a wall colour, so these are the cloths that sit against it: one of them on the curtains, the paint behind. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.
