Gilbert Stripe Blue

Sandford FabricF4891-05

Gilbert Stripe Blue is a neat vertical stripe with a calm, airy feel. The pale ground lets the blue bands sit lightly on the surface, giving the fabric a fresh, understated look.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric has a vertical repeat of approximately 18cm across a width of about 142cm, making the stripe feel orderly and easy to pattern-match. The composition of 41% viscose, 36% cotton, 21% polyester and 2% linen gives the cloth a softly dry handle with a refined, lightly textured finish visible in the weave. In this colourway, the blue stripes read as soft powder blue with a cool grey edge, set against a warm ivory ground that keeps the overall effect relaxed rather than stark. The stripe is fine and composed, with a smart linear rhythm that feels crisp without becoming formal.

How to use it

Use this colourway where you want a room to feel lifted and disciplined at once: it works especially well on tailored blinds, slim curtains or a clean armchair. The pale blue against ivory pairs neatly with bleached woods, chalky paints and other quiet neutrals.

A crisp stripe that suits tailored upholstery or elegant curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Gilbert Stripe Blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
