About this fabric

Part of the Tarn collection by Colefax and Fowler, Sebastian Old Blue is a fabric with a repeat of approximately V 10cm and H 12cm and a width of about 138cm. Its blend of 35% viscose, 33% linen, 13% polyester, 11% wool, 4% cotton and 4% polyamide gives the surface a dry, textured handle that complements the compact woven motif. In this colourway the blue sits in a cool, softened register, with hints of green and a chalky neutral cast that prevent it from feeling bright or hard. The small diamond pattern remains neatly legible across the cloth, creating a calm decorative rhythm rather than a strong contrast.

How to use it

Use this old blue on a tailored armchair, bench or curtain with pale oak, weathered timber or limestone finishes. Its muted tone works especially well in rooms that need pattern without added heaviness.

A muted blue-green ground with a refined small-scale diamond pattern suits tailored upholstery or elegant curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
