Cubby Blue

G P & J Baker X Kit Kemp Stripes II FabricBF11132.660

Cubby Blue is a cool, deep slate-blue textile with a restrained vertical grain visible across its surface. Its softly varied blue tone shifts subtly with the light, giving the plain weave quiet depth rather than a pronounced pattern.

About this fabric

Woven from 65% cotton and 35% jute, this 134 cm (52.64") fabric has a fine, vertically striated texture that adds tactile interest to its smooth-looking blue ground. The colour reads as muted and slightly blue-grey, with darker and lighter threads creating gentle tonal movement across the swatch. A 25,000 Martindale rub test supports its use for loose and fixed upholstery, while the supplied usage also includes curtains and bedspreads. It must not be washed, bleached or ironed, and should be professionally dry cleaned.

How to use it

Use the cool slate-blue tone to give a sofa, headboard or occasional chair a calm, tailored presence, or let it soften into full-length curtains. Pair it with chalky whites, weathered timber and muted grey-blue accents to draw out the weave’s subtle tonal variation.

A cool slate-blue woven texture that brings quiet depth to upholstered seating, curtains and bedspreads.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
