Modena Fabric13990

Modena Calico is a softly variegated neutral with a warm, sun-baked look and a gentle woven texture. The surface reads calm and lived-in rather than stark, with pale cream layers and deeper biscuit shading.

About this fabric

Part of the Modena collection by J Brown, this plain-design fabric is made from 100% polyester and specified for contract use. The swatch shows a warm calico ground with irregular creamy highlights, sandy beige mids and a slightly richer oat tone that gathers in the weave. Its 80,000 Martindale rating and back-coated Cigarette & Match to BS5852 fire performance make it a practical choice for hard-working seating. Professional dry clean in situ is recommended, or it can be washed at 40°C; please refer to the pattern book for further care instructions. The overall effect is soft, tonal and quietly textured, with enough depth to keep a neutral scheme from feeling flat.

How to use it

Use Modena Calico on banquettes, dining chairs or relaxed sofa upholstery where a warm neutral is needed without glare. It pairs especially well with natural oak, chalky paint colours and textured linens in similar biscuit and stone tones.

A softly mottled neutral that sits quietly with timber, linen and aged brass.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
