Brophy Embroidery Indigo

Melsetter Fabric & Weaves FabricMOF0114-03

Brophy Embroidery Indigo layers a soft cream ground with cool indigo sprigs, arrows and medallion-like forms, punctuated by small, vivid red details. The close-set repeat gives the cloth a lively, crafted rhythm without overwhelming its light background.

About this fabric

The pattern combines repeated indigo botanical marks, directional leaf shapes and fine curling lines with red rosettes and small geometric accents. Against the warm ivory-cream ground, the indigo reads muted and slightly greyed rather than intensely navy, while the red provides precise points of warmth. With a 254gsm weight and 137.5cm usable width, this is a versatile mid-weight fabric suited to both upholstery and drapery applications. Its pattern repeats every 46.5cm vertically and 45cm horizontally, creating a clearly ordered surface across the cloth.

How to use it

Use the cream ground to keep a room light, then draw out the cool indigo with washed blue or soft grey upholstery and echo the red accents sparingly in cushions, piping or painted details. The measured repeat works particularly well on curtains, occasional chairs and smaller upholstered pieces where the individual motifs remain legible.

A versatile mid-weight textile whose cream ground and cool indigo pattern are enlivened by small red accents.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
