Palermo black
Palermo Fabricpalermo/fa1/cha
Palermo Black is a deep, smoky dark neutral with a softly mottled surface and a matte, velvety look. The finish reads more charcoal-toned than jet black, giving it a quieter, more layered depth.

About this fabric
Woven in 100% polyester, Palermo Black is a substantial fabric at 452gsm with a 40,000 Martindale rub count, making it suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery. The swatch shows a dense, even field of blackened charcoal with subtle tonal variation that softens the overall effect. Its surface has a low-sheen, brushed appearance that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so the colour feels calm and grounded. With no pattern repeat and a usable width of 140cm, it is easy to specify for larger, tailored pieces.
How to use it
Use Palermo Black to add contrast against pale woods, limestone, or crisp white trim, where its muted depth will sharpen the room without feeling stark. It also works well on structured seating and simple drapery, especially in interiors with a modern, moody palette.
A rich dark neutral that works cleanly on tailored upholstery or understated curtains.

Pairs well with
Palermo black is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
