Madras Check Madder

Sabu Stripes and Ikats FabricSAF0535-02

Madras Check Madder is a lively checked fabric with a sun-warmed coral red set against soft cream. The woven look keeps the pattern crisp while the colour reads gently faded rather than stark.

About this fabric

From Sanderson’s Sabu Stripes and Ikats collection, this fabric has a useable width of 139 cm and a 23.5 cm vertical and horizontal repeat, giving the check a regular, balanced rhythm across larger pieces. At 245 gsm, it sits in a versatile mid-weight range that works well for both upholstered pieces and softer furnishing schemes. The surface visible here has a fine, even weave that softens the red into a slightly dusty madder tone, with the pale ground lifting the whole design. The effect is bright but not brash, with enough structure for tailored cushions, occasional seating, or relaxed curtains.

How to use it

This coral check feels particularly good in rooms that want warmth without heaviness, especially against painted woods, pale timbers, or simple off-white walls. Use it on a bench seat, dining chair, or café-style curtain to bring a cheerful, country-leaning accent.

A fresh coral check that brings warmth and easy country charm to seats or curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
