Lavanga Madder

Sabu Stripes and Ikats FabricSAF0534-02

Lavanga Madder pairs a clear madder-red motif with a soft ivory ground for a clean, lightly traditional look. The small, evenly spaced pattern gives the fabric a tidy rhythm without feeling busy.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Sabu Stripes and Ikats collection is a substantial woven at 376 gsm, with a usable width of 137 cm and a pattern repeat of 15.5 cm vertical by 12.5 cm horizontal. In this colourway, the motif reads as a warm madder red rather than a bright scarlet, so it feels grounded and slightly sun-baked against the pale ivory background. The weave has a firm, cloth-like handle that suits upholstery particularly well, while the neat repeat keeps the surface ordered and easy to live with. With 33 threads per cm, the cloth has enough density to support a tailored finish without losing the crispness of the small ikat-style motif.

How to use it

Use it on a compact chair, bench cushion or occasional headboard where the madder detail can be seen up close. It sits well with weathered timber, tobacco leather and soft plaster tones, or as a warmer note in a mostly neutral room.

A crisp ivory ground keeps the madder motifs fresh and versatile.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
