About this fabric

This Orwell Weaves fabric from Sanderson has a substantial 414 gsm weight and a 140 cm usable width, making it well suited to structured upholstery projects. The image shows a cream base threaded with claret motifs that form linked diamonds and zigzag bands, with the weave texture clearly visible across the surface. The 8.5 cm vertical repeat and 24 cm horizontal repeat create a regular, rhythmic pattern that feels ordered and graphic. Threads per cm are listed at 56, and that close weave is reflected in the fine, slightly nubbly surface seen here. The claret sits in a warm, slightly muted register rather than a bright red, which keeps the design smart and grounded.

How to use it

Use this colourway on an occasional chair, headboard or bench where the claret pattern can stand out against plain walls or wood. It also works well with natural linens, dark timber and aged brass, letting the cream ground keep the scheme light.

A warm claret zigzag motif on cream gives this weave a crisp, tailored feel.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
