About this colour

This shade reads as a dark blue with a clear violet undertone, so it feels cooler than a classic navy and less greyed than a denim blue. On a wall it absorbs a fair amount of light, which gives it a composed, enveloping presence without turning flat. In a north-facing room it can lean more shadowy and slightly more purple, while in south-facing light the blue comes forward and the colour feels cleaner and more luminous. It sits well beside walnut, ebonised woodwork, antique brass, parchment tones and upholstered pieces in ivory, stone or muted ochre. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it keeps the same deep character across walls and joinery.

How to use it

Lazuli works well in libraries, studies and dining rooms, especially on panelling, bookcases or a painted chimney breast. It suits upholstery in creamy neutrals, tobacco leather and woven textures, with woodwork in dark stained timber or a soft off-black.
