York Weave Sapphire

Historic Royal Palaces FabricBF10670.648

York Weave Sapphire is a deep, cool-toned textile with a tightly repeated zigzag weave. Its dark sapphire ground is softened by fine grey and muted neutral threads, giving the surface subtle visual movement rather than a flat block of colour.

About this fabric

The close-up shows a small-scale chevron-like weave, with alternating sapphire-blue and grey threads creating a finely textured, almost herringbone effect. Woven from 4% polyester, 45% viscose, 35% cotton and 16% linen, it has a 137 cm (53.82") width and 2 cm (.79") vertical and horizontal pattern repeats. A 26,000 Martindale rub test supports its use for fixed and loose upholstery, as well as curtains and bedspreads. The dark blue-grey colouring reads polished and composed, while the varied threads catch the light gently across the surface.

How to use it

Use the cool sapphire tone on a tailored armchair, sofa or headboard, then repeat it at the window for a coordinated scheme. Its fine grey flecks also give it enough tonal variation to sit comfortably beside plain grey, stone or pale blue textiles.

A versatile dark sapphire weave with fine grey flecks, suitable for tailored upholstery, curtains and coordinated bedspreads.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
