About this colour

At #A36860, Russet reads as a warm, muted terracotta with enough brown in it to keep the colour calm on a wall. It holds light gently rather than bouncing it back, so it feels cocooning in low light and especially rich in north-facing rooms, where the red-brown base becomes deeper and more cocoa-toned. In south-facing light it opens up, showing more of its clay and cinnamon warmth without turning orange. It sits well beside oak, walnut and dark painted joinery, and it is strong next to linen, leather and patterned upholstery in natural, rust or olive tones. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion and True Matt, it works equally well on walls or woodwork where a warm, settled backdrop is wanted.

How to use it

Russet suits dining rooms, studies and snug spaces where a sense of warmth matters. It pairs neatly with painted timber, brown leather chairs and upholstery in muted neutrals, moss green or deep navy.
