Montpellier Velvet Midnight appears as a deep, blue-black navy velvet with a quiet, low sheen. The close-up shows subtle tonal movement across the plain surface as the pile catches the light.

About this fabric

This colourway has a near-black midnight tone rather than a bright or clearly saturated navy, giving the velvet a restrained, moody presence. Its soft pile creates faint shifts from blue to charcoal across the face, with no visible printed motif. Made from 100% polyester and supplied at 140 cm (55") wide, it is suitable for curtains, fixed upholstery and bedspreads. The 100,000 Martindale rub test makes it a practical choice for hard-wearing upholstered seating as well as decorative applications.

How to use it

Use the blue-black depth on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard where the velvet’s subtle nap variation can add dimension. It also makes full-length curtains or a bedspread feel atmospheric when paired with warm timber, aged brass or pale neutral walls.

A deep, softly lustrous velvet for dramatic upholstery, tailored curtains and bedspreads.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
