Astraea Ebony

Aqueous Performance FabricCCF0795-02

Astraea Ebony is a deeply toned monochrome textile with a dense, finely striated surface. Black, charcoal and lighter grey threads create a softly mottled effect across the swatch, preventing the colour from reading as a flat solid.

About this fabric

The small-scale woven texture is formed from closely packed horizontal flecks in black, charcoal and grey, giving this Ebony colourway a cool, layered appearance. At 332gsm and 20 threads per cm, the cloth has the substantial visual density expected of an upholstery fabric. Its 140cm usable width is supported by a 24cm vertical repeat and 35cm horizontal repeat, which keep the pattern movement controlled and understated. Light catches the intermittent pale threads, bringing subtle relief to the dark ground rather than creating a glossy surface.

How to use it

Use Astraea Ebony on a modern sofa, dining chair or occasional chair when a room needs a near-black foundation with more texture than a plain solid. Pair it with pale timber, warm metal or muted stone to balance the colourway’s cool charcoal depth.

Use this charcoal-black woven texture on contemporary upholstery where its finely mottled surface can add depth without introducing colour.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
