Dawson Charcoal

Dawson Fabrics FabricCCF0617-01

Dawson Charcoal has a near-black charcoal ground with a subdued, irregular surface of fine horizontal and branching marks. Its low-contrast texture gives the swatch depth without introducing a prominent motif.

About this fabric

With a substantial weight of 730 gsm and a usable width of 140 cm, Dawson Charcoal is well suited to upholstery applications. The dark charcoal-grey tone reads cool and quietly dramatic, while faint tonal ridges catch the light across the otherwise deep surface. There is no pattern repeat vertically or horizontally, so the textured face can be positioned without matching a design. The standard length is 25 m.

How to use it

Use Dawson Charcoal on a structured sofa, headboard or occasional chair where its cool, almost black tone can anchor pale stone, timber and brushed-metal finishes. In a darker room, pair it with layered grey textiles to bring out the subtle surface movement rather than competing with it.

A weighty charcoal upholstery cloth with a restrained, tactile surface that suits contemporary seating and darker schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
