About this fabric

The high-contrast charcoal and stone palette makes the organic pattern read with unusual depth, while the broken vertical marks keep the surface from feeling uniform. Its pattern repeat measures 52cm vertically by 23.5cm horizontally, creating a noticeable but manageable rhythm across upholstery panels. With a 140cm usable width and 546gsm weight, it is particularly well suited to substantial upholstery projects. The standard length is 40m, supporting coordinated cutting across larger schemes.

How to use it

Pair Gautier Charcoal with dark wood, aged metal and warm neutral walls, allowing the stone-coloured markings to soften the near-black ground. It works especially well on a statement chair, ottoman or tailored sofa where the dense repeat can be seen clearly.

Use the near-black charcoal ground to anchor contemporary upholstery, with warm stone accents adding visual lift.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Gautier Charcoal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
