Martello Raven

Martello FabricCCF0393-38

Martello Raven is a deep charcoal-black textile with a cool, smoky cast and a visibly irregular woven surface. Fine blue-grey and muted brown threads appear through the dark ground, giving the cloth quiet depth rather than a flat black finish.

About this fabric

This 300gsm fabric has a closely woven, crosshatched texture formed by fine vertical and horizontal lines, with occasional slub-like variation visible across the surface. Its raven colouring reads predominantly charcoal and black, while cooler blue-grey threads catch the light in restrained streaks. With a 144cm useable width and no vertical or horizontal pattern repeat, it can be positioned without aligning a motif. The standard length is 40 metres, making it practical for coordinated upholstery or drapery projects where a dark, textured plain is required.

How to use it

Use Martello Raven to give a room a cool, tailored foundation on a sofa, occasional chair or curtain, pairing its charcoal depth with pale stone, aged timber and brushed metal. The subtle blue-grey crosshatch also works well against deeper teal or soft grey accents.

The cool raven ground and lightly irregular weave bring depth to tailored upholstery, cushions or full-length curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
