Elmscott Stripe Red/Grn

Brooke Stripes FabricF4827-04

Elmscott Stripe Red/Grn is a neat, fine stripe with a calm, tailored rhythm. The red reads as soft and settled rather than bright, sitting against a warm cream ground with slender green accents.

About this fabric

Woven in 49% cotton and 51% linen, this Colefax and Fowler fabric has the dry, natural handle you would expect from a cotton-linen blend. The stripe runs vertically in the image, with a repeat of approximately 1.5cm horizontally and no vertical repeat, creating a close, disciplined pattern. Its muted red lines are softened by narrow green pinstripes and a gentle beige ground, giving the colourway a traditional but not heavy feel. At approximately 138cm wide, it is a practical cloth for furnishings where you want detail without visual noise.

How to use it

Use it on a small armchair, dining chairs or a pelmet where the slim stripe will look crisp and composed. The warm red and green palette sits especially well with painted wood, aged brass and neutral linen textures.

A restrained stripe that works neatly on tailored upholstery or country curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
