About this fabric

This Chester fabric by Colefax and Fowler is supplied in a 143cm approx width and has a zero repeat, making the subtle surface texture the main feature. The composition is 44% Cotton, 28% Linen, 14% Wool, 13% Polyester and 1% Polyamide, which suits the slightly dry, gently slubbed hand visible in the cloth. In this colourway, the slate blue is softened with grey and a touch of mineral green, so it feels cool and restrained rather than bright. The plain weave shows fine vertical striations and a lightly heathered appearance that gives the fabric depth without introducing pattern.

How to use it

Use it on a sofa, armchair or headboard where you want colour that feels composed and easy to live with. It pairs especially well with pale oak, chalky whites and deeper navy accents for a layered, tonal scheme.

A quietly tailored slate blue that brings a calm, refined finish to seating or relaxed drapery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
