Hampden Red
Chester FabricF4852-02
Hampden Red presents as a softly weathered red with a warm, earthy cast and a fine vertical stripe effect. The small-scale woven pattern feels neat and orderly, with just enough texture to stop the colour reading flat.

About this fabric
This Chester fabric by Colefax and Fowler combines 35% linen, 28% viscose, 20% polyester and 17% cotton, giving the cloth a refined woven handle with a subtle natural texture. The repeat is approximately V 3cm / H 5cm, and the close vertical motif reads as slender leaf-like columns in a dusty red ground. In this colourway the red is muted rather than bright, with a terracotta-rose warmth that softens the pattern and keeps the overall look understated. At approximately 145cm wide, it is a practical furnishing width for made-to-measure upholstery or relaxed curtains, depending on the project. The Q 8 + T 3 care code and √BM fire code are also supplied for specification purposes.
How to use it
Use Hampden Red on a sofa, banquet seat or tailored curtains where you want colour with restraint rather than bold contrast. It works especially well with walnut, parchment tones and muted green accents, letting the warm red stripe add depth without dominating the room.
Pairs well with oak, aged brass and quiet neutrals for a tailored, heritage feel.

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Hampden Red without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
