Hamlin Old Blue has a quiet, horizontal stripe effect with a softly weathered blue-grey cast. The fine, layered weave gives the surface a calm, tailored look rather than a bold contrast.

About this fabric

Hamlin Old Blue from Colefax and Fowler is a fabric with a subtle striped structure and a measured repeat of V 6cm / H 18cm approx. The cloth is 141cm wide approx and composed of 48% Cotton, 19% Viscose, 16% Linen, 10% Wool, 4% Polyamide and 3% Polyester, which helps explain its gently textured, slightly dry handle in the image. This colourway reads as a muted old blue softened by grey and beige notes, with the pale yarns keeping the overall effect light and understated. The fine horizontal striation gives it a refined, woven depth that feels more relaxed than crisp, and the √CM fire code is noted for specification reference.

How to use it

Use this restrained blue when you want pattern without heaviness: it works neatly on a sofa, bench or dining chair and keeps a room feeling composed. Its faded, cool tone also sits well beside chalky white paint, pale oak and brushed metal finishes.

A cool, low-key stripe that feels tailored on upholstery and calm at the window.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
