Embury Red

Olney FabricF4936-03

Embury Red is a softly striated plain with a warm, muted red cast and a linen-led surface that reads quietly tailored rather than vivid. The fine vertical texture gives the colour a gentle shimmer across the cloth.

About this fabric

Embury Red from the Olney collection by Colefax and Fowler is a fabric with no repeat, measuring approximately 144cm wide. Its blend of 44% viscose, 25% linen, 22% cotton, 6% acrylic and 3% polyester gives the surface a dry, woven handle with just enough softness to keep the finish refined. In this colourway, the red is restrained and earthy rather than bright, softened by beige and rose undertones that sit comfortably against the fine vertical striation visible in the weave. The overall effect is smart and settled, with the texture helping the shade catch the light without looking glossy.

How to use it

Use this muted red on upholstered dining chairs, a headboard or tailored blinds where a little colour is wanted without strong contrast. It also sits well with oak, parchment neutrals and aged brass, which echo the fabric’s warm, softly weathered tone.

A softly tailored red with a calm, linen-rich look for classic upholstery or curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
