Mellar Red

Romilly FabricF4925-01

Mellar Red has a warmly aged red ground with a small, pebble-like pattern that reads softly broken rather than flat. The close, textured surface gives the colour plenty of depth and variation across the cloth.

About this fabric

This Romilly fabric by Colefax and Fowler is woven in 79% cotton, 12% polyester and 9% viscose, with an approximate width of 138cm and a repeat of V 32cm / H 34cm. In Mellar Red, the design shows as a dense scatter of tiny cream and rose notes over a deeper red base, creating a speckled, slightly antiqued effect. The colour feels warm rather than bright, with a softened brick-red character that catches the light unevenly and adds movement to the weave. With no performance features noted, it is best considered for decorative upholstery where its richly patterned surface can be fully appreciated.

How to use it

Use Mellar Red on a small sofa, dining chair or ottoman to add a settled, heritage feel without overwhelming a room. It pairs especially well with oak, aged brass and quiet neutrals that let the warm red tone stand forward.

A rich, textural red that brings depth and tradition to classic upholstery schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
