About this fabric

This Pelham fabric from Colefax and Fowler is composed of 45% cotton, 20% viscose, 15% linen, 10% polyester and 10% acrylic, and it comes in an approximate width of 133cm. The small repeat, measuring about 8cm vertically and 9cm horizontally, gives the pattern a tight rhythm that reads clearly across the surface. In this Tomato colourway, the red ground is softened by earthy green and muted neutral notes, so the overall effect is warm rather than bright. The surface appears dry and tactile, with enough structure to suit practical decorative use. Care code Q 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are also specified for this fabric.

How to use it

Use this colourway to add warmth to a room with aged timber, brass or painted joinery, where the tomato red can echo heritage tones without overpowering. It also works well as a compact pattern on cushions, a chair or short curtains in a scheme that needs colour and texture.

A crisp small-scale geometric that brings lively colour to tailored upholstery or relaxed curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Hilaire Tomato without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
