Orion Ocean

Zander Velvets VelvetJ0298-05

Orion Ocean is a richly patterned velvet with a cool teal-blue ground and a small repeating geometric motif. The contrast yarns lift the design with a crisp, almost wave-like rhythm across the surface.

About this fabric

This Jane Churchill velvet from the Zander Velvets collection is woven in 48% viscose, 30% cotton and 22% polyester, with an approximate width of 144cm and a repeat of V 20cm / H 24cm. In Orion Ocean, the pattern reads as a deep teal-blue field threaded with pale grey and cream highlights, giving the cloth a layered, slightly weathered look rather than a flat solid tone. The velvet pile catches the light softly, so the darker areas feel saturated while the lighter threads bring out the small scale of the geometric repeat. With its BM fire rating and substantial velvet handle, it is well suited to upholstered pieces that need both visual texture and a smart finish.

How to use it

Use Orion Ocean on a compact sofa, tub chair or ottoman where the small-scale repeat can be appreciated up close. Its cool oceanic depth works especially well with chalky neutrals, smoked timber and brushed metal accents.

Pair with warm oak and pale linens to let the cool teal pattern stand out.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Orion Ocean without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
