About this fabric

This substantial velvet weighs 495 gsm and has a 143 cm usable width, giving the cloth a convincingly dense presence for upholstery. The small-scale pattern is formed from irregular, closely spaced wave-like lines rather than a bold directional motif, while the 32.5 cm vertical and 36 cm horizontal repeats keep the surface detailed but controlled. Slate-blue ground tones are softened by warm grey and taupe accents, creating depth as the textured pile catches the light. The standard length is 30 m, with 75.5 threads per cm recorded for this colourway.

How to use it

Use Chert Blue Slate on a structured sofa, headboard or occasional chair where its cool slate tone can anchor warmer taupe, natural wood and aged-metal accents. Its restrained rippling pattern adds surface interest without overpowering a room already layered with plain textiles.

A substantial blue-slate velvet with a softly glinting, finely rippled surface for tailored upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
